Advocate for all students - Join the PTA!
PTA membership is $10 per member, per year. Parents, guardians, students, teachers, staff, or community members can become members of the PTA. Your membership comes with a variety of perks, from PTA event discounts to discounts on car rentals and other services.
ALL are encouraged and welcome to join PTA meetings regardless of membership status. However, only dues paying members can vote on items like budget, programs, or Board members.
WHY IS THERE A FEE?
Carthay PTA is a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization under the national PTA nonprofit. Membership with the PTA allows us to keep our nonprofit status, which is crucial for grants, taxes, and insurance. Your $10 membership dues are shared between Carthay, the California state PTA, and the National PTA. The state and national PTA advocate for students, in Sacrament and on Capitol Hill, on topics ranging from gun control and mental health policy to arts education. **Please note: the extra $1 Totem processing fee goes towards the platform. As we are a volunteer-led organization, Totem helps streamline our payments and accounting for tax filing.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME WHEN I JOIN?
Becoming a member of the PTA shows that you want to help support the programs and events that help enhance students' experiences at school!
Attending meetings and volunteering at any of the PTA-sponsored events is open to ALL regardless of membership status. However, only members can vote on programs, budget, issues, and actions.
Attending meetings and events is not required, however it provides opportunities to meet other parents. Always feel free to contact us if you have any ideas, suggestions, or comments.
