CDI’s mission is to motivate children to develop a personal standard of excellence by instilling confidence, discipline and focus through the rigor and joy of dance.

CDI’s athletic, high energy dance style, appeals to boys and girls alike. Our child-friendly choreography has been carefully tailored to allow all children, including those with special needs, to experience success. CDI programs are unique because they focus not on mastering a particular dance form, but on striving for excellence.

READING PARTNERS

www.ReadingPartners.org

Reading Partners is a national nonprofit that mobilizes communities to provide students with the proven, individualized reading support they need to read at grade level by fourth grade.

We know that reading is the foundation for all future learning. The ability to read transforms lives and empowers children and communities to reach their full potential. Research shows that students who read at grade level by fourth grade have a greater opportunity to succeed in school and beyond.

That’s why we partner with under-resourced schools and engage volunteer reading partners to work one-on-one with students who struggle with reading. Our volunteers provide hour-long tutoring sessions to students— following a structured, evidence-based curriculum developed with an expert team of curriculum advisors.

YOUNG STORYTELLERS
(5th grade)

www.youngstorytellers.com

Young Storytellers sparks creative self-discovery through storytelling. Our programs highlight young people as the center of their own narratives, emphasize that their stories matter, and celebrate their unique voices as the ones telling them.

In elementary school, we use storytelling to help young people explore their creativity and imagination. In middle school, we use storytelling to explore their goals for the future and what challenges might stand in their way. In high school, we use storytelling to explore the impact their voice can have in their community - and, more broadly, the world.

Young Storytellers works towards a future where young people experience, through the stories they write, the impact that their thoughts, feelings, and words can have on the world in which they live.

We raise voices, one story at a time.

DANCE
with Ms. Smith (K-2nd grades; 1 semester)

The elementary dance program in Los Angeles Unified School District is a foundational program that provides standards-based instruction in dance in grades K through 6. The students are given the opportunity to experience dance as art in an educational setting, performing, creating, responding and connecting their dance learning to their own experiences.

MUSIC
with Ms. MacQueen
(K-3rd; 1 semester)

The primary task of music education is to train young people to know, love, and respond to music; to be able to carefully evaluate the music they listen to and the music they perform; and to understand the world and its music that permeates everything we do.
