Put your wallet down, we beat our Annual Giving goal! 🏁
🏆 $91,000 raised and committed
🏆 Every class at 100% participation
🏆 A whole lot of reasons to celebrate!
We did it, Carthay! We surpassed our $90,000 Annual Giving Campaign goal, reaching 101% of our target!
Thank you to everyone who donated, sponsored a student, requested an employer match, or shared the campaign with friends and family. Hundreds of individual gifts added up to more opportunities for our kids to learn, create, move, and connect. This community showed up, and every Carthay student benefits.

Talk numbers to me 📊
$91,000 raised and committed: We surpassed our $90,000 goal by $1,000! This rounded total includes donations already received and future commitments.
100% participation in all 17 classes: All 362 students received participation credit through family gifts and student sponsorships.
159 families gave directly: That’s approximately 54% of our 292 school households.
157 students were sponsored: Sponsorships helped every class reach 100%, so every child gets to celebrate.
368 gifts from about 280 donors: Families, friends, relatives, employers, and foundations all helped us get there.

Every size of donation added up 🧮
The typical gift was $50. Some families gave more, some gave less, and many invited their wider community to join in.
77 families contributed under $144, alongside families who were able to make larger donations.
About $14,000 came from extended family and friends. Thank you for sharing our giving goal with your people!
$14,550 came through employer and foundation matches from five companies and foundations.
$4,075 was contributed through student sponsorships, helping classes reach their participation goals.
38 families set up monthly giving, with commitments totaling $21,078.
Every gift helped build the total, you didn’t have to make a big donation to be part of this big accomplishment.

Monthly donors: your gifts are still doing the work 🔁
Our campaign total includes future committed payments, not just money already received. About $2,400 in monthly gifts has come in so far, with roughly $18,600 still to come through June 2027.
Please keep your monthly gift going! Those upcoming payments already count toward our goal and help us deliver the programs we’ve planned.

What this money makes possible 🚀
Meeting our Annual Giving goal helps keep this year’s programming on track, including new classes in our MakerSpace! The campaign supports approximately 2/3 of the PTA’s $133,000 planned investment for the school year.
That broader budget includes:
🪴 $43,500 for the garden: Garden science and cooking classes, plus care for the garden and our chickens, quail, and ducks.
⚙️ $47,100 for learning and enrichment: Reading Partners tutoring, MakerSpace arts and engineering, STEAM programming, Gifted and Talented programming, and orchestra scholarships.
🫶 $39,400 for classrooms and community: PE and recess support, classroom supplies, and events like Community Night, Spooktacular, and Winter Dance.
📎 $3,000 for PTA operations and printing.
In kid terms? More growing, cooking, reading, building, moving, and making memories with friends.
These experiences aren’t fully covered by LAUSD funding, but your support helps make them part of life at Carthay. THANK YOU!

Every class gets to celebrate 🎉
Because all 17 classes reached 100% participation, every class earned both rewards:
👗 Pajama Day or Free Dress Day
🍿 A movie and popcorn party or an ice cream party
And 116 students qualified to Soak Mr. Garrison with water balloons on the last day of school!
Ms. Arnold’s class has the most qualifying students with 12, followed by Ms. Rodriguez and Mr. Garrison with 11 each. Mr. Garrison, consider this your advance notice. 😅

May the odds be ever in these chicken’s favor 🙏
Congratulations to Room 3 (Ng), Room 4 (Rodriguez), Room 18 (Davis), and Room 22 (Arnold) for having the highest family participation rates by September 27!
These students earned the honor of naming three of our newest garden hens. We had a tie for third place, so Ms. Ng and Ms. Rodriguez’s TK classes will team up to name one together. Wishing you luck, golden hen. 😅
Thank you for coming through for Carthay! 🫶
Whether you gave $5 or $5,000, sponsored a student, secured an employer match, or sent the campaign to someone who loves your kid, you helped make this happen. Thank you for helping keep these experiences available to every Carthay student. There’s a lot to look forward to this year—and a whole community to thank for it!
